Some dogs wait for a better life. Filla spent years making the best of the one she had.

Filla is our mountain momma. For years, she has lived in the pineapple fields, and the farm workers even built her a little house there. Everyone who meets her falls for her, and it’s easy to see why. She is friendly, kind and sweet, and she is always overjoyed to see us. With the other dogs she is calm and gentle, the quiet matriarch of the mountains.

But life on the mountain has not been easy. Filla has had far too many puppies, and years of providing for them, and for herself, have taken their toll. She is a mother who has given everything, and she deserves so much more.

On our feeding rounds, Filla is always right beside us. She walks us to the places where dogs are hiding, leading the way as if she knows exactly where she’s needed. Then she waits patiently until we have finished, before taking us to the next spot. Her intelligence has truly impressed us. She isn’t just a survivor, she’s a helper.

So we have a dream for her. We want to give Filla a five-star life, a life fit for a queen. A warm bed. Cool summers. A place where she never has to worry about food or shelter again. Somewhere safe where she can lounge her days away, free from struggle.

Filla is gentle, loyal, wise and full of love. She has spent years taking care of everyone else.

Now it’s her turn to be cared for.
