The Little Girl Who Sang Her Way to Rescue

Some pups wait in silence. Birdie decided to sing.

After days of heavy rain, a tiny, thin cry caught our attention. It sounded so much like a bird that we almost walked past it. Deep in a rubber plantation, hidden away from the world, we found her: a two-month-old pup lying in a puddle, weak, cold and far too thin.

What we discovered broke our hearts. Birdie has a severe overbite and two flat feet, meaning her paws sit flat and splayed instead of forming a strong arch, which makes walking tricky and a little wobbly. She was also severely anaemic, battling blood parasites and covered in ticks. She had clearly been fighting alone for far too long.

But underneath it all was a little girl with a voice, and a determination to be heard.

Today, Birdie is growing stronger every day. She’s receiving treatment and can now walk short distances, wobbles and all. She is cared for by one of our team in Thailand, who is helping her discover what it feels like to be safe, warm and fed. And fed she is! Birdie is a total foodie who never says no to a meal.

She is shy and fearful, but so full of love. She adores people, and she gives the absolute best cuddles.

Birdie is gentle, sweet and full of hope. She’s also quite possibly one of the most beautiful girls around!

Her journey is a reminder that sometimes all it takes is one cry, one listening ear and one pair of helping hands.

She sang her way to safety. Now all she wants is a family to call her own.
